Former residence of “Kamaki”or “Zenno Kihei ”

Zenno Kihei was a Kyoka poet who owned a shop named “Kamaki”.

This is the site of the house where he used to live.

His poems frequently appeared in Utamaro’s work. When he composed a Kyoka poem, which is a comic/satirical tanka poem, he used a different name. His name as a Kyoka poet was “Tsuyotei　Tokunari.” He was a representative Kyoka poet in Tochigi. He made a great fortune by running a pawnbroking business here.
