Grave of Tsuyotei Tokunari or Zenno Kihei

(The cemetery within the Kinryu-ji temple precincts)

Zenno Kihei was a Kyoka poet. He composed Kyoka poetry, or comic/satirical tanka poems. He used the name 'Tsuyotei Tokunari” as a poet. His works appeared in Utamaro's work very often.

This is his grave. His special name and the year he died are engraved on the tombstone. His special name was given to him as a testimony of becoming a disciple of Buddha.
