Shimotsuke-kokuchou Ruins

It is a historic scenes of the local administrative agency established in the Asuka period.From the ruins, many pottery and lacquered paper documents, roof tiles, wooden books, etc. were excavated, and examples in which the trace of the National Agency was clearly found were rare and designated as nationally designated cultural properties throughout the country. At the present time the figure of the front hall has been restored and the Shimotsuke-kokucho Ruins memorial hall was built in the premises and excavated goods are released for free.
